Biography Euphemia is a singer and songwriter. She started singing and writing her own songs at the age of 9. At the age of 12 she wrote a song that was chosen for the school choir. With a taste of the stage she then went onto auditioning for school musicals, often playing the main role. She recalls those experiences in singing and performing as cementing her passion for the arts. Euphemia has other talents; professionally trained in Contemporary, jazz, Street and African dance. She joined a dance company shortly after she left school and later became a back up dancer and backing singer for well known artist such as, West Life, Peter Andre and Lee Ryan. This position gave Euphemia the opportunity to travel to Africa. This great continent is where Euphemia grew as a person with an appreciation for culture, style, and artistic influences that was later to become the core of her being. After having a taste of being a session singer Euphemia decided to try out for the X FACTOR along side two of her school friends who too had similar dreams. After auditioning for X Factor in 2005, she got through to the Boot Camp stages and made it to the last 14, but just missed out on performing at the live finals. Simon Cowell singled Euphemia out for special praise and suggested that she should take the lead role or to leave the girl group to compete for a place in the finals. However, she declined the invitation citing loyalty as very important to whom she is as a person. She insists she would make the same decision again. Despite the disappointment she continued singing at small events and writing her own songs. She believes that there is still more to achieve and cannot envisage a life without her music. The album 'Euphemia's World' is a melting pot of different genres and sounds including Soul, Reggae, Jazz, and Alternative. Euphemia's ambition is to make music that inspires and elevates her listeners. She gets inspiration from the greatest musical geniuses of all time and often pulls out old records of James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and old Motown, Blues Rock Records. Euphemia looks to artists that have a message and melodies that speak to her. She is currently experimenting with poetry and making music with just voice. Euphemia's World lyrically tells a story about life from her point of view, importantly she tells her truth. "My love for music is my main motivation as an artist," she says. "I've found that you can help so many people with your songs "My love for music is my main motivation as an artist, and if I am able to help people with my songs then that is the greatest reward," She says, "My aim is to take the listener back to a time when music was true, meaningful, and soulful. When music was less corrupt and came from a place of inspiration and beautiful storytelling". (Euphemia Ellison)
